Mindprint Expert Review

Pros

  • App reinforces a single numeracy skill in an enjoyable way with minimal negative feedback.
  • The simple premise makes this a good choice for students who need to practice a variety of visual skills.
  • Although there is a timer, the timer should not be anxiety-producing because time is added for correct answers.

Considerations

Mindprint Expert Review

This is a simple yet fun and addicting app that is truly a game but will help improve number sense and visual skills. A student must tap on the floating numbers in order of lowest to highest before the time runs out. Levels start out easy with only a few numbers. Games grow increasingly harder by including more numbers at a time and negative numbers. The simplicity of the task makes this a great app for reinforcing understanding of positive and negative numbers, though only after a student has learned this concept in school. It can also be a good choice to help most students improve their visual attention and processing skills in a fun and encouraging way, though some students with weaknesses could potentially find the combination of moving numbers, an outline font, and the "glowing" circles too uncomfortable. Although the free version includes advertisements, the advertisements are not visible during game play. The paid version contains no ads and allows users to select a level to begin. Overall, this app is worth trying, especially since a free version that works well is available.
