Pros

  • The upgrade can include over 200 visual challenging puzzles with no reading required.
  • Early levels allow unlimited moves and no timer.
  • All levels allow students to replay the puzzle as often as they need.

Considerations

  • The app continuously requests a user review or suggests a paid upgrade.
  • The levels grow challenging quite quickly and students cannot get help without a paid upgrade.

Mindprint Expert Review

Fixum is a challenging visual puzzle game that can provide good practice with visual reasoning and spatial perception, provided that students can resist the urge for help boosters. Students see a target pattern at the top of the screen and must move and rotate the smaller squares in the main area to replicate the target pattern. Levels start out easy with unlimited moves and no timer. Puzzles grow increasingly challenging and begin to have limitations on moves and time. If students want a booster for help or additional moves they are prompted for a paid upgrade. The app offers very good visual puzzles provided that students have sufficient self-control to not get frustrated and persevere without needing a paid booster.
