This sleep hypnosis app is designed to help users sleep calmly and deeply but adults should exercise caution before deciding if it is appropriate for a child. In addition, parents should always explore the root causes for any sleep problems, including anxiety, stress, a specific sleep disorder, or depression, and address those concerns directly. This app is specifically designed to make hypnosis more accessible to those in need of deep sleep. The developers claim that the app will be effective in 1-3 weeks if used for 25 minutes a day. The app begins with an audio introduction to insomnia, and despite the manufacturer’s recommendation for ages 4+, it is clearly intended for an adult audience with references to alcohol and other potential adult stressors. The narrator's voice is clear, calm and relaxing as she guides the user to think about specific experiences and learn how to release tension and sleep deeply. Basic features are free, but if this app is effective users might want to upgrade to customize the experience with additional background sounds, the length of the recording, the option to be awoken at the end, etc. Overall, this app can be a very helpful tool to help students relax and fall asleep more easily, but adults should be certain they are considering all the reasons and alternatives around poor sleep habits.
