Stronger Attention (Bb)

If your student has strong attention and you want to build self-awareness for better study skills

What It Is

Your strong attention can support effective and efficient learning across subjects, helping you produce consistent, quality work. You attention refers to your ability to get started on work and then maintain focus on the activity or assignment as necessary.

When It Matters

Your strong attention helps you tune out distractions and focus on the task at hand. Take advantage of this important strength to boost learning across subjects, even those that may not come to you as easily. It also will allow you to utilize your higher order thinking skills with more depth -- you can go further with analyzing and weaving together complex concepts if you are able to concentrate.

Making Best Use Of Your Strong Attention

  1. When you need to tackle a task you are not particularly enthusiastic about, use your good ability to focus to get through it. Life is full of tasks that we need to do even if we don't really want to do them.
  2. Keep in mind that you are able to focus better than most. When you feel like giving up on a task that is difficult or unexciting like a standardized test, remind yourself that others are probably feeling the same way. Your advantage is that you can use your strong attention to persevere when others have a harder time doing that.
  3. Put your stronger attention to good use during group work with these strategies.
