This app can effectively strengthen subtraction, numeracy skills and working memory for confident students who would benefit from a challenge. Students can select from nine ranges of difficulty, starting with problems including numbers up to three all the way through multi-digit subtraction with numbers up to 100. Students will play rounds of matching games where they will need to match the equation to the answer or an equation of the same value. The ability to recognize equations of similar values, rather than simply solve an equation, is an important mathematical skill, but parents should anticipate that many students in the target age range may not be developmentally prepared and might be more comfortable with the flash card match only. Rounds start simply, with only four cards, and add cards as students progress. Students can add a layer of difficulty by having the cards turned face down as in typical memory games. However, solving and remembering multiple equations along with locations may be too taxing on working memory for all but the strongest students. The app has no timer and no negative feedback, nor does it enable adults to track students' play or progress. Overall, a fine subtraction practice app for strong math students who want to practice their numeracy and exercise working memory.
