IEP or 504 Supports for Non-Language Based Reasoning (Abstract Reasoning)

If your student has an IEP or 504 Plan for a non-verbal learning challenge, including dyscalculia

How To Apply It!

  1. Some of these arrangements may require the student to have a formal individualized education plan (IEP) or 504 Plan, while others might be offered at at the teacher's discretion.
  2. Physical, hands-on materials to support understanding of challenging concepts.
  3. Teacher-provided supporting pictures for math problems.
  4. Provide copies of any visual aids or written notes used during class instruction.
  5. Present complex concepts or instructions in discrete steps in written form.
  6. Provide scaffolding in multi-step homework assignments. (Might include showing a detailed example, providing a framework for each step of a problem, or offering a step-by-step answer key so student can check work as s/he goes.)
