Encourage Smiles, Yawns & Posture

If your child is often anxious, stressed or often tired

How To Apply It!

  1. When you have a bad day or bad mood or lose focus, there are some easy physical things that can make you feel better and less anxious.
  2. Smile. The physical act of smiling releases hormones that make you feel better. Try a smile even if you don't feel like it. While no one encourages insincerity, the value of a smile can go a long way in improving your relationships.
  3. Yawn. Studies show that yawning relaxes the brain and enables better focus. Always have proper manners and don't yawn while someone is speaking to you. And be sure to cover your mouth. But a fake yawn can help you focus.
  4. Good posture. Standing physically straight and holding your head up high will lift your mood, convey confidence and a positive outlook. Even you are feeling bad, try to look the way you wants to feel and, in turn, you will feel better. Like the proverbial "fake it til you make it."

Why It Works (the Science Of Learning)!

Research unequivocally shows that physical exercise, a good night sleep, a healthy diet, and frequent breaks are all important for students to focus, feel better, and perform their best. Given today's busy schedules, not everyone can follow those guidelines on a regular basis. Fortunately, simple actions like smiling, yawning and standing up tall are also shown to cause physiological changes in the brain that have similar (albeit) positive effects.
