Mindprint Expert Review

Pros

  • Simple to create a venn diagram and then re-size and revise.
  • Good tool for students who might want to use venn diagrams but have trouble with neatness or drawing to scale.

Considerations

  • While it is easy to see the intersection, there is no option to shade the intersection, a common feature of venn diagrams.
  • Limited features and flexibility. For example, cannot control the placement of the circle labels and cannot adjust the color of the items in the circles.
  • Does not provide instructions or examples on when and how to use venn diagrams.

Mindprint Expert Review

This simple, free math app enables students to easily create and share venn diagrams with up to three circles. This program can be effective in the classroom while teaching venn diagrams for the first time, as students can easily re-size circles, label them, move them to show relationships and tag data points to go into the circle. Venn diagrams can be an effective way for students to present related information in a visual way across subjects, and this simple tool can come in handy. It can be especially good for students with weaker spatial, handwriting or organization skills to be able to work through their diagrams without needing to worry about neatness or getting it exactly right the first time as they can easily iterate on their diagram as they go. It is a simple tool and it lacks some helpful features, such as shading the intersection or deciding where the labels go for optimal visual appeal. Some students might not find it worthwhile to have a separate app just to create venn diagrams, but it can be useful for the specific unit of study or those that might use them regularly in presentations.

Manufacturer Description

This app allows users to create Venn diagrams that contain two or three overlapping circles. Users can pick from several circle colors, and both the circles and item font size can be altered to better align with the users' needs for each project.

Designed for use in the school environment, this app features a simple profile system so that multiple users can create their own Venn diagrams on the same device without confusion.
