Mindprint Expert Review

Pros

  • Adults can pre--select the appropriate question categories for each student (names, chronology, facts, quotes, presidential nicknames).
  • The app includes a study section where students can read the facts about each president.

Considerations

  • Students with weaker verbal skills may have difficulty with some of the vocabulary/questions and there is no option to look up definitions.
  • While the app provides the correct answer if a student answers incorrectly, there is no helpful explanation to enhance recall.

Mindprint Expert Review

This is a truly fun app to help students remember the faces and facts about the US Presidents. On each turn, students must select the correct president from the multiple choice faces. Answering correctly earns the student a chance to propel the president into the air and “knock out” the floating aliens. Aliens are configured differently in each round, and students must use visual reasoning and motor skills to optimize the number of aliens they hit. While this may be a challenge for students with weaker visual motor skills, students can keep answering questions correctly and getting new presidents to shoot until all the aliens are cleared. If students answer at least half the questions in the round correctly, they earn a president for their collection. Winning a number of presidents unlocks additional games. There are a broad variety of questions to challenge all ages, the background pictures are vivid images of the memorials, Mt. Rushmore, and other famous landmarks. The sound effects make this game inviting and knocking out the aliens is an ongoing challenge. Overall, this app provides a great balance of fun and learning. *Note: This app was originally reviewed for iPhone/iPad. Some differences might apply.
