Mindprint Expert Review

Pros

  • App offers continuous challenge as puzzles get progressively more difficult and there are over 1000 puzzles.
  • There is no timer so players can take as long as they need to decipher the puzzle.
  • App gives positive feedback only.

Considerations

  • If users are stuck on a word, they either have to buy hints or email a friend/post on facebook for help, and not all phrases will be easily recognizable by younger children.
  • Spelling must be accurate so students with weak spelling skills may get frustrated quickly.

Mindprint Expert Review

Just 2 Words is a fun word puzzle app that develops flexibility and verbal reasoning and will work best for children with solid spelling and good general knowledge and vocabulary. The user sees two somehow related photographs and must choose from scrambled letters to spell a word depicted in each picture. The pictures denote common compound words or phrases like baseball+diamond or party+animal but can sometimes be unfamiliar to children, such as court+date. A player can only advance by solving the puzzle, but can use earned coins for hints. However, coins can be depleted quickly and users will need to pay for more. There are options to email friends or post on Facebook for help, but both are time consuming and may cause frustration. Overall, with the attractive photos and no timer, this game can be a fun, stress-free way to improve on flexible thinking, general knowledge, and vocabulary. *Note: This app was originally reviewed for iPad/iPhone. Some differences might apply.
