Mindprint Expert Review

This app can be a helpful supplemental reference for students studying or who need to refresh their Algebra 1, but they should have a solid foundation before attempting to use this app independently. The app has the feel of a straight-forward textbook with clear diagrams and text but no engaging features. It includes 13 chapters, each on a distinct algebra topic starting with Numbers and Operations and ending with Symbols. The first two chapters are free to trial, but access to the rest requires an upgrade. Each chapter is broken into small sections so students can easily scroll and find the topic they need. Students can also do a free search of the entire app for a particular topic. The explanations are provided in a series of succinct bullets, often with a supporting diagram. The explanations are clear and concise and will be useful for students who need to refresh their learning or remember a specific topic. However, students who struggle with the topics might feel confused trying to follow along independently as they might find the explanations insufficient. The digital flashcards are derived directly from the tutorials and are easy to read. The multiple-choice quizzes are also based on the tutorial, provide immediate correction, can be re-taken, and provide a scored report. Overall, this is a fine app for students studying Algebra 1, but students who struggle should plan to use it in combination with more in-depth instruction and adult support. *Note: This app was originally reviewed for iPhone/iPad. Some differences might apply.
