Mindprint Expert Review

Pros

  • The app provides plenty of practice in all parts of speech.
  • The design is clean and straight-forward and the timer is tiny.
  • The presentation of quiz results enables students to easily focus on areas of difficulty.

Considerations

  • Students will not enjoy this app as it is entirely rote practice.
  • App uses challenging vocabulary in the explanations and questions.
  • Tests can have as many as 50 questions which can be overwhelming, though a student does not need to finish the test.

Mindprint Expert Review

This is a fine app to provide a student with rote practice in appropriate parts of speech. The free version allows a student to sample nouns and pronouns, but if a student will use the app parents will find it worthwhile to pay for verbs, adverbs, etc and avoid the distracting ads. Each topic is broken down into sub-topics with several screens of explanation and multiple choice quizzes. The explanations, quizzes, and quiz answer explanations use challenging vocabulary and sentence structure, so this app will likely require parental support at times. However, the quiz summaries provide detailed feedback on each answer which can be mailed to a parent, and students can choose to go back and review incorrect answers. Also, parents can pre-set the amount of time for the quiz and give the student instant feedback on each answer. This app is all work and no fun, but it has a clean design with easily viewed questions and answers. For students who learn best by doing lots of problems and learning from mistakes, this app can be the right choice. *Note: This app was originally reviewed for iPad/iPhone. Some differences might apply.
