Mindprint Expert Review

Pros

  • An easy to play family game that will improve general knowledge and vocabulary.
  • Good practice for "thinking on your feet" and verbal expression.
  • There is are sufficient diversity of questions providing plenty of opportunity for learning new things.

Considerations

  • Students with auditory weaknesses may struggle trying to listen to and remember the rushed speaking of other players.
  • If players are too competitive, it could result in arguments about whether or not an opponent answered before time expired or a response was legitimate.
  • As the answers are often subjective and the game uses a timer, it is best to have an impartial judge.

Mindprint Expert Review

This is a good family game that will give students the opportunity to develop word retrieval and quick thinking skills, and learn new factual information. Players take turns picking a card and trying to name three items in the card's category in under five seconds. If successful, a player scores a point, or play passes to the next person who must name three without repeating the first player. The game uses a unique timer with sliding balls that adds to the fun of the game. This is a good choice for many families to help children work on flexible, quick thinking, expressive language and general knowledge. However, parents should be prepared to adapt the rules for students at the younger end of the age range who might not be familiar with some of the card categories or children who struggle with the very same skills the game can help improve. Fortunately, easy adaptations could include doubling the length of time, naming only one item, and passing on unfamiliar categories.
