- Students will need to adjust to this note taking strategy. Adults will want to be sure students are not relying solely on recordings and are paying attention in class.
- The free version keeps prompting the user to upgrade and has limited capacity.

AudioNote is a very simple yet effective tool to integrate audio and digitally typed notes or drawings. Although research shows that taking handwritten notes is more effective than typing notes for understanding and retention, for students with weaker attention, processing speed and/or motor skills this app can be a wonderful option to ensure that they do not miss any key points. Students can record a class lecture or group discussion while typing simultaneously taking notes or drawing pictures. The typed and audio notes are fully integrated so that a student can choose to replay the specific portion of the lecture they need by looking at the typed notes. There also is an option to integrate photos. The note taking tools are straight-forward and easy to use, and the recording is clear. The free version has limits on usage and continues to prompt the user to upgrade. If students find that this note taking strategy is effective for a student, the paid upgrade will be worthwhile. Note: This app was originally reviewed for iPhone/iPad. Some differences might apply.
