Mindprint Expert Review

Pros

  • This book provides plenty of simulated test-taking practice with the correct format, though it might not reflect the hardest exam questions.
  • The answer key provides understandable explanations for every question.

Considerations

  • This book does not provide instruction, only through problem explanations, so students might want to start with a content review first and then use this book to assess mastery.
  • Students need to work independently to time and correct themselves for the exams, so less independent students might need an adult to monitor progress.
  • Students might find self-correcting the essay using the checklist very challenging and will need adult support.

Mindprint Expert Review

1,460 ACT Practice Questions is a very good choice for test-taking practice, though it lacks the most challenging questions one might find on the actual exam. The book does not review material, but does provide 3 full-length practice ACT tests plus question sets and drills that resemble actual test questions with a total of over 700 questions. Practice sets and drills cover every section of the exam. The book uses Princeton Review's own exams which are similar to the actual exam in appearance and content, but do not include the most challenging exam questions. An easy-to-understand explanation is provided for every answer choice in the book so students should be able to learn from their mistakes. Students must self-correct the essay using a checklist which they may find challenging to use and self-assess with accuracy. Because the book does not cover the most challenging questions, it would not be the best choice for a student aiming for a perfect score. However, it is a great choice for most students to build confidence and improve performance as it provides plenty of simulated test-taking practice and clear answer explanations.
