Jump Numbers is a fabulous math app that develops numeracy skills in an enjoyable, stress-free way. Students help "Snortles" find their way home to a volcano in a connect-the-dots type game by jumping from one circle to the next, counting up in a sequence either by 1's or skip counting by 2's and up. The default adaptive mode starts easy, counting by 1's with no addition required, but the game adjusts in difficulty based on the player's performance until students are counting and adding in multiples of 12. Also, as players advance through the game, they will sometimes face the additional challenge of knowing when to add circles (e.g. 8 and 2 to get 10) to get the next correct number in the sequence. There is the option to override the adaptive feature and target a specific multiple or start the sequence at a random number between 0-20. If a student is stuck during a sequence, there are hints available. Adults should know there are unlimited hints and there is no option to track if a student is always using hints rather than solving independently. The colorful graphics, funny creatures and noises, and moving screens make this game fun and perhaps addicting, even for those who tend not to enjoy math games. Students are rewarded with virtual prizes for good progress and when they take on optional, harder challenges. Since rounds typically take only a minute or two, this game will be suitable for all ages and attention levels to play at least one round, and ideally multiple rounds. Overall, a unique game that develops good fundamental math skills in an engaging format that even reluctant math students should enjoy.

CUSTOMIZE FOR SPECIFIC CONCEPTS AND ABILITY:

The default mode of play in Jump is adaptive difficulty. This means the game will automatically adjust the difficulty for each player. The game starts out easy, counting by 1s and 2s, but before you know it, you may find yourself counting by 7s, 8s or 9s and things can add up quickly! The more Snortles you save and the more math you do, the more challenging the game will become.

If you want more fine-grained control for targeted math practice, you can customize skills from the options menu:

- Choose the specific “Count by” numbers a player is presented with, or play the original adaptive game.
- You can also choose a random “Start at” number for a much tougher challenge.
