Mindprint Expert Review

Pros

  • The units cover high interest and age appropriate topics in language arts, science and social studies.
  • The directions are simple and clear, and definitions are provided for new vocabulary words.
  • The workbook is colorful, visually appealing and provides a tactile approach to learning.

Considerations

  • There are too many pictures and colors on each page that could easily distract children with visual or attention weaknesses.
  • Many of the activities require supplies like glue, scissors, etc. so adults should be prepared before giving this workbook to a student.
  • Students may need to have a parent nearby to explain new concepts or help with puzzles and projects.

Mindprint Expert Review

This is a fun workbook designed to help children practice critical thinking, reading, and fine motor skills. Using crafts, puzzles, riddles, and word games, students learn about a variety of age-appropriate topics. Some of the topics are fiction like "Little Red Riding Hood" where students read a two-page poem, follow directions to make a pop-up wolf, and make a puzzle. Other units teach factual subjects like Japan, where students read facts, learn new vocabulary words, make an origami Samurai helmet, and learn how to play Gomoku, a game from Japan. The pages are brightly colored and filled with interesting pictures that will engage most students but could be too distracting for others. The book offers good variety for children who appreciate different approaches, but adults should not expect students to master specific skills. This book can be a great resource to engage students' interest and develop knowledge in language arts, science, and social studies while developing fine motor and reasoning skills.
