Mindprint Expert Review

Pros

  • A good hidden picture app that introduces students to great works of art.
  • Younger students can have the clues read aloud, though they might struggle with the accent at times.

Considerations

  • The pictures are not rated by difficulty, so students could have challenging puzzles followed by easy ones.

Mindprint Expert Review

ArtsTwist is a wonderful hidden object app that uses the works of Renoir as a hidden object puzzle. The student selects the painting by name and image, and then must find five the objects described in the painting. Students can choose to read the clues or have the clue read aloud. Unfortunately, the clues are read by a girl with a British accent who can be difficult to understand, but the clue can be repeated as often as the child wants or read silently. Clicking on the credits enables the students to read the basic details about the painting. There is no timer and no penalty for incorrect guesses, but nor are there hints. There are 15 paintings to choose from, and students can select paintings in any order they choose. Overall, this is a great choice to introduce students to the style and works of Renoir while developing their visual skills. There are three other apps in the series if students enjoy this and begin to appreciate the art, including Monet and art from the Getty Museum.
