Mindprint Expert Review

NumBugz includes a set of attractive, small tiles with a bug theme that helps students develop math skills through a variety of games. Each tile has a bug picture on one side and a number 1-12 on the flip side. Instructions for Colonyz, the primary game, are in the game insert. Players try to be the first to connect their Bugz tiles to the communal Colony by laying out an equation before the timer runs out. Students of different skill levels can play together by agreeing on each player's operand ahead of time. For example, younger players might always use addition while more advanced players might use division. Depending on the skill level of the child, adults might need to help with or monitor the equations being placed down. Given this might be difficult under time constraints, players can decide together not to use the timer.

There are over 10 other NumBugz games for different age levels that are described on the PLYT website. They are intended to develop a variety of skills, including strategy, numeracy, memory, categorization and sequencing. The games vary in time frame from a quick 5 minutes to 30 minutes. Unfortunately, the instructions are relatively complicated and players are likely to be confused unless they have adult support to use the visual instructions on the insert and the video instructions on the website.

Manufacturer Description

NumBugz are more than just a single game - they're a number of great original games that you can take with on your travels or play at home.

Colonyz is the challenging numbers game featured in the rules. It's a bit like Scrabble with numbers as you use calculations to link all your Bugz to the Colony, before the timer runs out. From very young players, linking individual Bugz in number sequences, to more advanced players, linking 6 Bugz in a single calculation - everyone is challenged, but everyone has the same chance of winning as players determine risk vs reward on every turn.

Alternatively, develop your ability to think ahead with our strategy game, Legionz. Link Bugz together in a way that helps you build the biggest Legion of Bugz, whilst stopping your opponents. Test your memory with Pairz, or the slightly harder Memorize. Or if you fancy some quick fun games then why not give 25z, SumBugz or Sequencez a go.

NumBugz contains only the rules for the game Colonyz. When you purchase the game we will send you the rules for our other NumBugz games or you can find them along with videos on how to play on our plyt.co.uk website

NumBugz is brought to you by PLYT. All our games are designed to be fun, educational and challenging for all ages and abilities to enjoy together
