Articulation Station is an incredibly useful app for children who need to practice clear articulation of specific sounds. The app is designed to work on one sound at a time, and provides a range of activities for each sound that are appropriate for different ages and levels of development. The app includes activities with pictures so it can be used with pre­-readers as well as readers. It also has two difficulty levels of stories so that children who are more fluent readers do not feel that they are using an app meant for preschoolers. Words and sentences can also be read out loud to the child with a simple tap of a button. This is a great app that provides a variety of engaging activities that target specific sounds that children need to practice. The app is expensive, but free to trial – with the “p” sound included – and other letter sounds can be purchased individually as in-­app purchases. This can save a lot of money for parents who do not need the full version with all the letters. While children cannot benefit from this app without help from a parent, teacher or therapist, it is very effective when used with a child. Although the games and activities could be more engaging, overall this is a great tool for children who need help with speaking skills.
