Paper53 is a great, free app that teachers and students can use to create a broad variety of digital images and presentations. It can be simple to use for younger students and quite sophisticated for students who are interested in art and design. The basic app includes a simple color palette with options to mix colors, digital pens, pencils, paintbrushes, etc., a scissors that allows users to easily cut out and move shapes, and an easy way to create standard shapes. Students can create their own drawings by hand or import photos and use those in their designs. The app is not specifically made for students and the tutorials might leave students confused, so adults will want to anticipate helping students learn to use the different features. Creations can be easily exported as a PDF, presentation or image. Overall, an excellent tool for digital creations once a student understands how to use the different features.
