Stress Ball or Fidget Toy

If your student is constantly fidgeting or is overly anxious and wouldn't bother other students

How To Apply It!

  1. There are plenty of non-disruptive objects for fidgety fingers and hands that you can use in the classroom while listening to the teacher without disturbing other students. You or your parents might need to ask permission from your teachers to use it during class.
  2. Squishy balls, stress balls and Koosh balls are options that your teacher might let you keep in or under your desk.
  3. Finger fidgets attach to the top of your pen or pencil and won't be obvious to anyone else.
  4. A strip of velcro inside your desk can give a good tactile sensation and will not be obvious to anyone.
  5. Make your own squish ball by filling up a balloon with seeds, play dough, rice or flour.
  6. Keep one in your pocket for recess, another in your backpack, and another on your desk for homework so you always have one available.

Why It Works (the Science Of Learning)!

Research shows that many students with attention or anxiety are better able to concentrate when they are allowed to fidget. Their excess energy is channeled into the fidget toy rather than potentially disturbing others around them and maintains a level of calm so they can focus on their work.
