Pros
- Although this app may be difficult to scroll through to find specific points in time, hints pop up when needed help is anticipated and students can search a term or year and go directly to that point.
- Students can add personal events to the timeline to put them in perspective, e.g. when a grandparent was born.
- The app does a good job managing the amount of information on a single screen.
Considerations
- The scroll navigation can be difficult to learn, both physically and visually.
- The app provides limited information on any given event, so students will need to supplement key points.
- The app does not clearly distinguish the future events as anticipated and not factual which could be confusing for some students.
Mindprint Expert Review
This is a fantastic app to provide students with a comprehensive view of natural and world history. The app begins with the Big Bang and continues to anticipated future events such as the first shuttle to Mars and includes everything in between. Events are marked with the date, a title, and a brief one line description. Students can choose an external source to link for more information such as Wikipedia, star important events, and embed their own notes. Once students grow accustomed to the navigation, this app does a wonderful job providing a sequential perspective of history. The app does include tragic events, so adults may want to purchase this full version and delete specific events as appropriate. The full version also allows you to avoid the disruptive ads.
