Mindprint Expert Review

Pros

  • In Classic mode, students can take as much time as needed, and there is no negative feedback given for incorrect attempts.
  • App includes multiple levels of play and two alternative games, so student can continue to take on new challenges.
  • Student can improve vocabulary since word definitions are easily accessible.

Considerations

  • There is no hint button when students simply cannot figure out the remaining words.
  • The need to move letters and underline words may be hard for students with motor difficulties.
  • There is no option to read words aloud so students can work on their pronunciation and understanding of less familiar words.

Mindprint Expert Review

Jumbline2 is a great word game using three alternative versions of "unscramble the letters" to create words. The Classic game is suitable for almost all students since the letters are large and easy to read, and the student can choose to play with or without the timer. The completed words are filled in at the top of the page alphabetically, so when students are stuck, they can use deductive reasoning to figure out which words are missing. There are multiple levels of play to focus on longer words, there is no criticism for incorrect tries, and there is also an option to see the definition to improve vocabulary. The two other variations can be fun alternatives. Students with weak fine motor skills may have some trouble moving and underlining letters, but they can choose to play without the timer to eliminate any stress. This app may be worth upgrading to avoid the advertisements.

Play in a relaxing un-timed mode, or put your skills up against the clock in timed rounds.

Jumbline 2 includes two additional games: Cloud Pop and Star Tower. In Cloud Pop, your goal is to pop as many clouds as possible, by spelling words out of the letters carried in each cloud. In Star Tower, your task is to build the tallest tower you can, before it sinks into the ground, by making and staking words out of an infinitely jumbled line of letters.
