Mindprint Expert Review

Pros

  • The games are fun for a broad age range with both easy and hard words and a relatively short duration.
  • Game encourages important skills such as flexible thinking, reasoning, and quick speed as well as social skills like cooperation and patience.
  • Teaches children to look at basic objects, such as stones, wooden blocks, rings, as the foundations for much more complex objects.

Considerations

  • Like similar games, there can be disagreements about what was a fair gesture or guess which can result in disagreements.
  • Students with weaker processing speeding or flexible thinking could get discouraged if not playing with supportive teammates.
  • The game can feel repetitive using the same objects over and over and limited variation in the words.

Mindprint Expert Review

Morphology is an enjoyable family game that provides a visual and creative twist on the traditional game of charades. Players divide into two teams, and the first team to get 8 correct answers wins. Games are relatively short which can be good for students with weaker attention. Teams take turns with one player on the team picking a card and acting as the team Morphologist (TM). The Morphologist silently reads the clue on the card, typically a category word such as action, animal or food. The Morphologist uses the objects provided in the box (colored cubes, stones, string, a little wooden person, etc.) to get teammates to guess the word before time runs out. The rules change slightly depending on a player's roll of the die. This game provides a fun way for students think flexibly both with the objects they are given and the words they guess. The objects are a simple to allow for creativity, but they can make the game feel a bit repetitive, especially when the guess words are similar. The cards have both easy and hard words, so families can play with a broad age range. Overall, a good family game choice that can be fun for a range of ages and cognitive strengths.
