Considerations

Mindprint Expert Review

Wits & Wagers Family is a party-style trivia game that can be a great way to help students develop problem solving and estimation skills. The game includes 300 questions that all have a numerical solution. One player reads the question, and every player writes down a number guess on a small dry-erase board. After all guesses are made, the boards are lined up from lowest to highest, and players bet on any answer they think is closest to correct without going over. Regardless of your original guess, you can still win the round by picking the best answer. Players can choose to have no discussion until everyone makes a bet, but the most learning will come if players discuss how they came to an answer so students can listen and develop their own problem solving skills. Another approach is to have teams of players to be sure there is discussion. This is a great game that can be played with families, in the classroom, or even with teams of multiple children to encourage discussion, reinforce social skills, and help students improve their problem solving skills.
