Carcassonne is a wonderful game that uses visually appealing tiles to reinforce spatial reasoning skills, strategic choices, and simple addition skills. Children select and place a tile to an ever-growing country based in the medieval French scene. They add their meeples, small wooden people, to the tiles for additional scoring opportunities. From a single initial tile, the scene grows with the different populating roads, cities, and buildings. After an area of the countryside is completed, players add up the points and remove their meeples. Players will reinforce basic addition skills to add points to keep score on the score board, and throughout the game they will need to make strategic trade-offs to hopefully attain the highest score. Carcassonne can be enjoyed by a wide age range of players and builds reasoning skills using fun and fantasy.
