Mindprint Expert Review

Pros

  • This has drawings of everything from a caveman to an electric razor, which makes the game visually appealing and fun.
  • Game reinforces multiple cognitive skills including memory, visual detail analysis and some analytical thinking.

Considerations

  • Students who have both memory and visual weaknesses will likely find this game overwhelming.
  • There is some judgment in watching the timer and whether an identified object is valid--a potential issue for competitive children or those with impulse control weaknesses
  • Some adults may find some of the drawings off-putting, e.g. a pile of smoking poop (although students may enjoy it)

Mindprint Expert Review

This is a great game to reinforce visual, memory and scanning skills. Using fun, child-friendly drawings, players need to read a card and then find the hidden items before time runs out. The vocabulary is appropriate for a first grader, yet because you need to find multiple items on a turn, it is challenging for children of all ages. The timer augments the game and is not always used, so the game should be fine for children with anxiety and/or children who need more time to scan and think. Many cards require analytical thinking, such as find the items that “require electricity” which is good for building general knowledge. This game strengthens both short-term and long-term memory and visual skills while maintaining the interest level of players of all ages. Overall, a great family game.
