Mindprint Expert Review

Pros

  • There are instructions for playing at four skill levels which make the game more interesting as children become more familiar with the colors and shapes.
  • The game is visually appealing with the brightly colored shapes, board, and dice.
  • The game is made of sturdy cardboard and the pieces fit nicely into the shape spaces on the board so it can be a good choice to help students with weaker motor skills.

Considerations

  • Although this game looks interesting, it is more of an effective teaching tool than a game to enjoy.
  • The board is very bright and busy for a child who has difficulty focusing on visual tasks.

Mindprint Expert Review

This is a useful game for young children to learn and manipulate brightly-colored shapes as well as develop social skills like taking turns. There are four skill levels which are useful to make the game slightly more challenging and add some variety. This game involves using one die which represents a color, one die which represents a geometric shape, and a game board with spaces representing color/shape attributes. This game teaches four colors (red, blue, green, yellow) and five shapes (square, triangle, hexagon, trapezoid). In graduated levels children learn to match both shapes and colors and manipulate them to fit in the proper location on the board. Although children can play this game independently, given the age range it should be played with an adult who can point out any mistakes in color and shape attributes and assist young children with taking turns. While it is a good choice to help develop visual and social skills in young learners, the game is not particularly fun or motivating.
