Mindprint Expert Review

Pros

  • The characters and game board are unique, colorful, and appealing to children in the target age range.
  • The game has no timer and requires no reading which enables children of all ages to compete against each other.

Considerations

  • The game board can feel visually overwhelming with lots of pictures and colors.
  • Students may have difficulty inserting the tiles that form the maze, particularly those that sit on the fold in the board.
  • The directions are not entirely clear, and families may find themselves needing to create their own rules to get started.

Mindprint Expert Review

This is a good strategy game that can help students develop visual reasoning and flexible thinking but it will not appeal to all students. The object is to be the first to collect the seven treasure pieces in the 3D maze, with the added twist that players insert tiles which change the maze on each turn. Students must move ahead strategically while anticipating and trying to block opponents. This game requires flexible thinking as the maze changes on every turn, so children must constantly rethink their plan/path to the treasure. Unfortunately, older children may find the designs too childish and younger children may find the constantly changing maze too frustrating. Even adults may find the directions challenging to understand and require a few games to fully understand how to play. In addition, the game can lend itself to players "teaming up" against another player. Overall, this can be a good visual strategy game for students willing to invest the effort in learning it, but this game is not for everyone.
