Mindprint Expert Review

Pros

  • Students learn to scan faces efficiently and pay attention to facial details (e.g. eye color, hair color, smiling).
  • Children improve and ask more strategic questions the more they play.

Considerations

  • The frames are flimsy and assembly may be frustrating for a younger child or a child with a motor skills weakness.
  • Some students may have trouble scanning so many faces when they begin playing, but this game can be used to strengthen that skill.

Mindprint Expert Review

Guess Who is a fun two-player game that teaches students to logically categorize and ask pertinent questions. Each player has a game board with 48 frames that hold different pictures of friendly character faces. Similar to the game of "20 Questions," two players take turns asking their opponent yes-no questions about the mystery character to eliminate wrong faces and guess the correct person (Is your person male? Does your person wear glasses?, etc.). Each game is short and fun and will help children to form relevant, strategic, and logical questions, trying to eliminate the most characters with the fewest questions. Children will need to pay attention to facial feature details, efficiently scan faces to see who meets criteria and listen carefully to their opponent's questions and answer correctly. Unfortunately, imprecise questions and answers can lead to bickering between players. Also, if children play enough they will tire of the same characters. The game is not particularly well made, as the faces can fall out of the holders and they can be troublesome to fit back in correctly. Despite the flaws, this is good, fun game that effectively develops important thinking skills.
