Mindprint Expert Review

Pros

  • The puzzles are grouped into five difficulty levels, so this can be fun for a range of abilities and ages.
  • The answer key is easy to follow and gives good practice in following visual instructions.

Considerations

  • The pegs and puzzle pieces may be difficult for a younger child or students with weaker fine motor skills to manage.
  • Students with weaker visual or attention skills, those most likely to benefit, are likely to tire of this game easily without adult support.

Mindprint Expert Review

IQ-Twist is a challenging, single-player game that enables children to work through 100 unique visual puzzles. The book provides instructions of where to place the different colored pegs, and the child must figure out how to correctly fit the 8 twisted puzzle pieces over the pegs. Just setting up the board will give students good practice in following visual directions. Children who enjoy puzzles will find this game a great challenge that will further strengthen spatial skills and flexible thinking. There is only one answer per puzzle, but the answer key is easy to follow if a child gets stuck. Children with weaker visual skills will benefit from practice and physically manipulating the pieces, and they can even use the answer key to help solve the puzzles until they grow comfortable trying on their own. However, children who are not typically drawn to visual puzzles may tire of IQ Twist relatively quickly.
