Pros

  • There is only one simple rule, to match color squares, so even young children can understand and play.
  • The cards are brightly colored which makes the game look fun.

Considerations

  • Although this can be a good tool to help children with visual weaknesses, it may be visually overwhelming for some, particularly at first look.

Mindprint Expert Review

Continuo is a simple yet challenging card game that allows students to practice visual reasoning and strategy skills. The game includes 42 tiles and each tile is a 4 × 4 grid of small squares. Each of the four sections on a tile has an L-shape of one color with a single small square of another in the corner. There are 4 colors in total. Players take turns picking cards with the aim of making the longest possible chain of small squares of the same color. This game is simple enough to be fun for young children yet can even offer a great visual and strategic challenge for adults competing against each other. The game is limited to the 42 tiles so can be good for children with shorter attention spans. While this is unlikely to be a family favorite, it can be enjoyable and helpful for students who struggle recognizing visual patterns provided an understanding adult is present.
