Mindprint Expert Review

Pros

  • Children use a variety of social skills as they must work together to complete a task.
  • This game can be a good game for students with weak language skills to enjoy as players must express themselves creatively without speaking.
  • The tic-tac-toe style gameboard adds an additional layer of strategic thinking.

Considerations

  • This game uses sticky clay which is not recommended for students with sensory issues.
  • Many cards require children to sketch the secret word before time runs out which may challenge students with anxiety or graphomotor weaknesses but players could agree not to use the timer or extend the time.
  • Children with visual weaknesses may have difficulty reading the small font on the cards and using the 3D glasses to read the secret code word at the end of the game.

Mindprint Expert Review

Cadoo is an exceptionally fun game that can be used to develop social skills, following directions and creativity. Players take turns choosing from solo (individual activity) or combo (cooperative activity) cards which instruct them to act out, sketch, or sculpt from clay for other players to guess the “secret” word on their card. A unique tic-tac-toe style board is used for scoring where a correct guess earns a chip and the first person to get four chips in a row wins. This game is a great way for children to practice following a variety of different types of instructions in an engaging way. For example, one Solo card has instructions to "Find something made of wood," and if the player can find something before the timer runs out, he earns a chip. With good adult supervision and support this game can be a great way to help children work cooperatively or overcome shyness. All students will benefit from being flexible and following varied directions.
