Mindprint Expert Review

Pros

  • This is a great prompt for creative writing exercises. A student could also be asked to write down his/her story, and this game would then be a tool for literacy development.
  • This game has suggestions for several alternative ways to play and lots of opportunity for creativity.

Considerations

  • The pictures on the cubes are very small and may be difficult for some children to process.
  • If children are not fully engaged in creatively linking the pictures, the game will not be fun.
  • Children with weaker memory skills may have difficulty creating a story using all nine cubes and keeping their thoughts organized.

Mindprint Expert Review

This is a good game to encourage students to be creative, flexible and express themselves. The game features nine cubes with different pictures on each side (e.g. smiley face, lightning bolt, parachute). One player rolls the cubes and must create and verbalize a story that links the pictures on all the cubes. Students can play on their own or with a group taking turns making up parts of the story with each picture. When used as an instructional tool, parents and teachers can use this game to help students with their expressive language and creative thinking. With the right group this game can be great fun. However, if the group is not fully engaged the pictures on the dice could lead to dull stories and boredom.
