Mindprint Expert Review

Pros

  • The game is straight-forward that any child could play in a supportive group.
  • The pictures are limited to a few simple categories, so students will not feel overwhelmed by the breadth of possibilities.
  • The game can help develop a variety of great skills including reasoning, flexible thinking and expressive language.

Considerations

  • The headband will be irritating for sensitive children.
  • The 45 second timer often does not provide enough time to get to the correct answer so parents may choose to play with a longer timer of their own or no timer at all.
  • There are only 74 cards which is not enough to make the game interesting for replay. However, you could choose to create your own cards.

Mindprint Expert Review

This is an enjoyable game that helps students use logic and deductive reasoning. Without looking, players take turns placing a picture card of an animal, food, or common object in a headband on their head so everyone can see except the player. The player then proceeds to ask yes/no questions about the picture to try to guess what it is before the sand timer runs out. The sample question card offers tips on the types of questions a child might ask, which would be very helpful for a child who has difficulty with making inferences and connecting ideas. This is a great game to work on reasoning, flexible thinking and memory skills. It also offers a great opportunity for a child to get comfortable being the center of attention and verbalizing questions, though for some children it may be uncomfortable.
