Mindprint Expert Review

Pros

  • The variety of games and levels of difficulty keep the game challenging.
  • Many children will be immediately attracted to this game with the bright colors and flashing lights.

Considerations

  • The game keeps score by flashing lights which may be distracting/confusing. for some children.
  • The four different sets of instructions can be confusing at first, and will be difficult to remember if the accompany directions/card are lost.
  • The beeping sound may be annoying or distracting for some children and the game is not as much fun without sound.

Mindprint Expert Review

Simon Flash is a more complicated version of the traditional Simon game that can be fun and develop visual and auditory memory and speed for the right audience. The game includes four small battery-powered cubes that flash, make sounds, and light up colors. There are four different games which require the player to put the cubes in a specific order, guess the “secret” color by eliminating other choices, solve a brain-teaser puzzle, or remember and repeat increasingly long color sequences. This can be a great game for a child who has good short-term visual memory and logic skills to further develop these skills. However, students who are weaker in these skills may find the number and complexity of the games simply overwhelming to remember and follow. Overall, this version may be better to challenge students who are stronger in these skills, and parents may want to find the more traditional version for other children.
