Everyone benefits from having a clear plan of how to approach a long-term, multi-step project, particularly students with weaker working memory, attention, and organizational challenges. Having a plan increases the probability that each step will be given the time and attention that is needed. It is important that it is the student who creates an organizational plan that works well for him or her, as every person has a unique approach to organization. Adults should not impose their own organizational structure on the student, but they should support the student to make sure he has an organizational strategy in place.
