Use Stronger Verbal Memory to Remember Images & Formulas
If your student's verbal memory is stronger than their visual memory and they need to memorize pictures, diagrams, or formulas
How To Apply It!
When reading information that needs to be memorized, read it aloud as well. Hearing it will help you remember it more than just reading alone.
When learning information, explain it to someone else. Hearing yourself explain it will enhance your understanding and you are more likely to remember what you said.
When memorizing diagrams or pictures, create your own descriptions. Write them down and study those along with the picture.
When memorizing abstract, challenging concepts use descriptive language to identify similarities and differences to related information you know. Write them down to help you remember these ideas.
Why It Works (the Science Of Learning)!
Students who have stronger verbal over visual memory skills can remember more efficiently by relying on their stronger skill. Speaking, writing or thinking in words, ideally in multiple ways, about visual or abstract concepts will help you remember.
